Lapsang Souchong has vastly grown in popularity according to tea connoisseurs and especially to those who appreciate single-malt Scotch whiskey and fine cigars. Its smoky flavour is often considered assertive and bold. The smoking time is determined for each type separately (Lapsang Souchong, Tarry Lapsang Souchong or Lapsang Souchong Crocodile). Our Lapsang Souchong has a large, open, black, slightly greyish leaf with a sharp note of smoke, and is well balanced with its flavours. Information for tea connoisseurs Lapsang Souchong is a black tea that originates from the mountainous Wuyi region, in the province of Fujian. The souchong touches on how the leaves are picked as they are often older and larger which generates its unique notes. Tastes like drinking an ashtray. Can't bear the stuff on it's own. So why 4 stars? Well add a small pinch (like literally 5 leaves) of this to 2 teaspoons of good strong black tea - Waitrose Assam for example - and the hint of smokiness rounds adds something really special to the taste.
