You wouldn't want glass as it's very heavy. The backboard is held by ingenious fasteners the clip into a ridge in the frame. It really holds the poster in place perfectly. Haven't hung the poster up yet but I couldn't be more pleased with the frame. Last custom framing I had done cost me $250! Can't say enough about this frame. 50cm x 70cm was the exact size of my poster. Know your poster size and you'll be happy.
