That why I don't use it. Couches are not suppose to be so stiff. I ordered some new one from "Saint Germain" and they are so much better. **Q: This can be moved into an oven to bake bread** A: No, you cannot moved it into an oven. It will burn. It just to help retain the moisture when the bread is rising. Then you will need to transfer to a baking sheet with the help of wooden tool. It just a rectangle of wood the lenght of the bread. **Q: I needed a replacement for my 50-year-old linen couche but this thing is impossibly stiff. Has anyone washed it?** A: I did tried to washed it and it ended in the garbage. Those are very bad quality. I bought some from another merchant on Amazon and I was very happy about it.
