You can fold it and tie it up to make it smaller if you need, and it is very compact. I've taken it camping five times now, trying a new setup every time. It is really fun to practice the different shelters you can make with this tarp. I would recommend buying extra tent pegs/stakes with this, as well as some 550 cord.
