Basically the salt and baking have been added. When I make it, the only thing I add is buttermilk. I grease my iron skillet with a big gob of crisp o which makes the bottom nice and crispy. **Q: does this product contain sugar?** A: No it does not contain sugar **Q: Do you make corn meal which is NOT self-rising?** A: I have used Hudson CrΓ¨me self rising corn meal for years and years for making cornbread. Nothing is as good! **Q: Is this gluten free?** A: Hello! This Corn Meal MIX is NOT Gluten Free. This product does contain flour to help with the baking process and final product. We do offer Big Spring Mill Self-Rising Corn Meal that is different than the corn meal mix that does not contain flour and is gluten free. Both being processed at Big Spring Mill, the Self-Rising Corn Meal is processed in a facility that does not classify as Gluten Free.
