They’ve become my go-to for every adventure! 🏃‍♂️🏞️👟 ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ good cross-country walking shoe *by B***K on April 28, 2014* I'm trying these after wearing out several successive pairs of New Balance leather walking shoes.These Asics fit well and have been very comfortable from the outset, although it took my muscles about five miles to get used to them and the greater level of support they offer. I like the comparatively high level of ventilation they provide compared to the leather uppers I'm used to.I also expect them to last longer than the 8 months and roughly 1,000 miles I typically get from a pair of walking shoes. We'll see how they hold up, but I'm really pleased with them after about 30 miles...EDIT: It has been nearly 5 months since I started using these for my daily walks of between 3-5 miles (street, dirt trails and beach). Let's say I've put 580 miles on them at a fairly brisk pace. Unfortunately, the heal of the right shoe has sort of disintegrated while the left heal appears ready to start separating as well. That is, the foam structure has just broken off in chunks. The tread itself has worn down about as much I would expect - my shoes tend to wear pretty evenly. This prompted me to examine an old pair of New Balance running shoes that I've had forever - I can see that right heal is a bit more worn than the left (but it's still there).Summary: These shoes have been really comfortable with good support up until the point that I wore 'em out. I did put a lot of miles on them, and I expect that the "structural failure" I experienced isn't unreasonable given the weight of the material. I just ordered a new pair of cheap New Balance MX623v2 cross trainers (http://amzn.com/B007JTXM28). We'll see how those hold up... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Not for use unless on trail. Otherwise amazing! *by S***T on January 17, 2014* I have purchased over 10 Kahana shoes in the last few years, both for myself and as gifts, because they are hands down the most supportive shoe for knees, ankle, back issues. Especially the 4 and 6 models. When th 5s came out they didn't fit quite the same so I bought all the 4s i could online but they are all worn out. The Kahanas are outstanding and stand out across all footware categories. They are both an effective running, cross training, and everyday shoe. I had an ankle injury I just couldn't shake even after 3 months. i wore a pair of Nimbus afterwards which gave me more support than others, but not enough. After buying a new pair of Kahana's my pain vanished and I was back on the fast track to healing. However, I am troubled over and over again that the smallest rubber piece on the sole, especially the small outer ones, have consistently come off, as does the non functional strip that says gel on the heel. When visibly loose, they can be crazy glued back on. Sometimes, I only notice when I get home and then the shoe no longer provides even support with part of the outside sole missing.This most recent pair I have only had for about a month and I didn't do any running, only cardio training on an indoor elliptical. And it is now loose and falling off. You might be surprised that I recenly purchased additional shoes in bulk, because I am that picky. Asics corporate says they can't help me out the rubber piece, and stated that because the shoe is designated and built for trail running only, that under normal circumstances the sole can get caught and subsequently loosened. So, I admit I got a bit frustrated. I could understand if this was just a tread issue, and then yes of course they will wear quicker on harder surfaces. But these aren't cleats or snowshoes. Trails have rocks and edges. If anything the design and adhesive should be stronger. Are the shoes only for soft flat trails? What about rocky scrambles? What about hard desert trails? What about the walk from the car parking lot to the trail? What about getting to the trail on foot. What about the gas stop afterwards? Do you want people to wear different shoes to the trailhead and then put these shoes on and run with their indoor and pavement shoes. Maybe I should take three pairs with me. Indoor shoes in car, then outside pavement shoes, then trailshoes. Its absurd really. I believe that the company is doing their best, I just thought maybe I'd be able to get some pieces to glue back on because these shoes are really amazing. Corporate wants to give me a call, but it's probably out of their hands.
