Waterproof, and the names are printed on the bottom. She loves dolphins - had a dolphin themed birthday actually - and this set is perfect. I don't think they are too small, as one review thought. They're about the length of my pinkie finger. A 2 year old would be fine, however they aren't recommended for ages under 3. Includes 12 pieces total.Daughter has played with these everyday for two weeks. She adds in her dinosaurs and ponies, and the game is different.
