This book can be a bit dry..or not, depending on what you enjoy reading. However, it is one of the best, perhaps the only, Feldenkras book that can give you a detailed map on how to go about doing Functional Integration and acquiring the skills to do so. I consider this book a must read for a all Feldenkrais practitioners regardless of skill level. It can not only help new practitioners acquire the work, it can help more experienced practitioners learn how to write about and think about the process of teaching and learning Functional Integration and Feldenkrais in general. There is a huge need for this book and for others to write similar books about Functional Integration.

This has a tremendous amount of information that will serve Feldenkrais practitioners throughout their journeys. It covers some of the beginning Functional Integration material that are foundational, and also shares many pearls of wisdom the author gained over a lifetime of the practice. I wish the many recommended FIs were titled, indexed, labeled or something. There are several FIs and variations mentioned in the book, but there’s no good way to find what you’re looking for (other than making your own notes). So you have to do your own digging. there are times the author’s science background tends to overcomplicate matters for this reader by introducing nomenclature, graphs, and scientific analogies. As a physicist, I’m sure it was right up Dr. Feldenkrais’ alley.
