It consists of a backing sheet and a clear film sheet. The book jacket is placed between the film and backing and surplus folded behind and secured with selotape. It would be useless for paperbacks and is not adhesive. **Q: Can you please advise if this is mylar i.e. polyethylene terephthalate (pet)/polyester?** A: No - and in my experience mylar is expensive and not readily available. I hope this is helpful.sal ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Works well, with good results *by J***E on 12 April 2019* The sleeve works well and can produce very good results.Please be aware that there are different ways of using the sleeves.Some people just make a snug sleeve for the dust jacket, which they then slip onto the book, just as with the uncovered jacket.Despite what one person demonstrating this method on YouTube said, in my experience that is NOT how libraries cover books. They use a sleeve that is slightly taller than the jacket, which leaves a narrow (say 2 mm) strip of the white backing paper showing at the top and bottom. This extra height allows the front and back covers of the book to be slipped into the open ends of the sleeve, so that it will stay in place, and won't slip up and down the book when in use. Some fix the ends of the sleeve to inside of the covers with a small piece of tape, but I prefer to let the sleeve slide in and out (or rather out and in) when the book is opened and closed.In my opinion, this second method produces a much more satisfying, satisfactory, and long-lasting result. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Quality product easy to use *by J***Y on 12 October 2024* I used to protect some of my favourite and valuable books. Lay out your dust cover, lay out some of this slightly longer, cut, slip dust over in then carefully fold over (in), and use a quality tape to stick down and you are done. A straightforward process. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great for purpose but may need glueing! *by M***W on 25 March 2019* Have used this product before and it is great for covering book dust jackets; however it is described as "No sticking or glueing.". This would only be true if it exactly fits the particular cover.
