The outer shell is hard, which makes it seem sturdy. I also like the spinning wheels, which means that my 4 year old can push the bag along at the airport without any help from me! The bag doesn't fit a TON of stuff, but I was able to fit all of my daughter's clothes for our week-long beach vacation last week. Shoes and toys had to go in another bag, however.
