There is also a circle made up of small printed grey dots in the center. I loved them regardless, I actually liked them more this way. Cute print, but it's definitely a print. There is no embroidery, not even along the edge. The "stitching" along the edge that the description mentions is just the finished edge of the hanky - which I would think would be standard. Pretty sturdy feeling, washes well (I do not take the time to iron them so they're a bit wrinkly out of the wash), and no shrinking so far. I'm hoping they soften up after a few months of use and washing. After I opened the box and laundered them, I changed my mind. The flowers and details did not fade at all. In fact, they were much larger than I thought and quite nice.
