I had purchased a PERC 5i card from Ebay before realizing it was cabled for SAS drives. After some searching around and reading on forums I purchased this adapter. Works great and my raid 5 volume consisting of several SATA drives has no complaints. This was for one of my whitebox ESXi servers at home. I was wanting something similar to the performance I have at work on our iSCSI SANs and realized that for my home system I needed beefier disk I/O.
