I have removed them from our rug once while the rug was being washed, but they did unexpectedly stick. I don't think they would stick after being removed again though (maybe once, but not twice.) They work quite well and are able to go the the edge of the rug. I had no issues with smell or feel. Very easy to attach, just briefly clean the part of the rug it will attach to and the part of the floor it will contact. I will say that if the rug is more than 4 feet, it is advisable to add grippers to the middle of the rug edge, in addition to the usual 4 corners. With 6 gripper on our large rug, our Roomba has no issue getting caught on the rug! Great quality!
