It is nice and thick as well as very soft and pretty. It can be worn with leggings or as a stand alone dress. The pockets are nice and will keep your hands warm or hold your phone, although I am sure the phone would cause it to pull the sweater down on that side. It is an over sized style so if you want form fitting you might want to order down a size. I am 5'3 and weigh 128 pounds. I like my clothes to fit very loosely so I ordered a large and it fits just the way I like it but for my size a medium would have also fit with room left over. It came just above my knees. I would buy again and not hesitate to give as a gift.
