Maybe because It was being used on a high up in the air, odd shaped motorcycle gas tank. The gas tank is upside down U shaped and smallish inside which made it difficult to move the suction head without hitting the sides of the tank or the U shape in the middle. Also had to work on the hose to flatten it out since it arrived rolled up. It did eventually work after I made the hose very flat and held it close down to the tank while moving the suction head in and out.Seems like it would be just as hard to use on a vehicle tank with a high up in the air filler like a newer SUV for instance.
