We looked into all of the popular types- ceramic, Teflon, diamond, and a few others. Our research also led us to understand that the life of a typical non-stick pan is about 3-5 years (which is exactly what we experienced with the set we were replacing).Ultimately, we settled on this set and we could not be happier. The pans are extremely well made. The heat distribution is very good allowing us to reduce cooking temperatures which contributes to extended life of the non-stick coating.
