I don’t recommend this book for pupils in the UK because it is American and includes American spellings and words which may cause confusion. For a children’s vocabulary book, I also find this text very overly patriotic / pro-colonialist, almost to the point of it seeming to be brainwashing. For example, there are numerous activities which ask pupils to crack codes where the clues are linked to colonial history and lots of references to America’s greatness etc etc form a part of the activities. American inventors, American places etc etc form so much of the content it’s like the rest of the world doesn’t exist. I ended up teaching a highly curated selection of the book.
