Videos online show people cutting a hole through the soft rubber end bar, as you said, but the 3.0 has a very rigid cap on the end that looks unpenetrable. Will that cap pop off if I work at it, or is there a way to cut through the hard rubber cap? **Q: Will it work on drop bar bikes? Can you actually see cars behind you?** A: I have it installed on my drop bar bike, I can see cars behind me when I remember to look at it and I have it adjusted correctly. **Q: How stable is mount? I'be tried several bike mirrors over the years and almost all vibrate so bad that I can't even see anything in it.** A: I generally like this mirror on my road bike with drop bars, but it vibrates like crazy. It is Ok on smooth flat roads at 15mph or so, but if you go 30 mph down a chip-and-sealed road, you won't be able so see anything useful. Overall very good product. This is a replacement and the improvements are very welcome. However, I bought one with a stainless steel mirror this time, the previous glass mirror was very good and practically unbreakable. The stainless steel mirror appears well made but just does not have the clarity of a quality glass mirror. It works well nonetheless. Time will tell whether stainless steel turns out to be a lasting solution.
