The author explores possibilities, retells (with some humor) the tales, simplifies, translates, and intentionally makes the complex material/symbolism/allusions easily digestible by anyone without any memory/knowledge of fairy tales, as this is (unfortunately) the current situation with so many younger readers and fans of the show.
