I made beef for at least 6 people and the base is big enough for the gravy and vegetables. The cast iron base on an induction hob means it is really easy to control a low cooking temperature, and thus no need to drill a hole in the top to allow out steam. This is much better than the ceramic tagines, which seem to crack however you use them on open heat.
