Review: Solid performing stereo speakers at a reasonable price. - I had my old speaker for almost 40 years and they finally wore out. These Klipsch speakers were a pretty close match in size any are pretty affordable. These speakers are a bit large for “bookshelf” but they should be on stands so they can be positioned in the room where they sound best. There is a port on the back and quite a bit of difference in the bass registers results from how close the speakers are to walls or hard objects. The included manual has basic tips for positioning. The front grilles are held on with magnets snd can be easily removed if desired. The grilles do not seem to affect the sound much, so either on or off is OK. The speakers arrived well protected with plastic wrap and styrofoam in a sturdy box. Setup is easy. I just had dropped attach the speakers to my existing amplifier. The binding posts on the speakers do not have banana jacks. The thumb screws tighten directly over the incoming wires. Jumpes may be removed to allow woofers and tweeters to be attached to separate amplifiers but that probably isn’t worth doing on compact speakers such as these. Sound quality is pretty good. There seems to be a little emphasis towards the bass end of then sound spectrum. I like to add about 2 dB of emphasis above 2.5 KHz on my preamp to get the sound I like. Changing room position might help, but I am limited for space where I can put the speakers. Over all, I would say the speakers are pretty neutral snd should be good for listening to most types of program material. The sensitivity of the speakers is good and they can be turned up to louder thsn needed with a small amplifier. I have them attached to an older Adcom GFA-555 which puts out more than 100 Watts/channel. It might be a good idea to use an in-line fuse holder with a 3.5 amp fast blow fuse in series with the speaker to help prevent damage to the tweeter in case the amp overloads, for example an input comes loose and picks up loud AC hum. Over all these are pretty solid performing well made speakers and a good value for the money. The speakers should last a long time as long as they are protected from overloads with would subject them to over 100 Watts. There is a newer generation of this model, but it costs more. This model still satisfactory.
Review: Great Sound, excellent value, highly recommended. - WOW! I have had a dozen speakers since 1986. These replaced an older pair of Advents that need the foam replaced and a pair of KEFs that needed replacement. Was listening on Grado 100 Bluetooth open back headphones that I like. Looked at Polk, JBL, Sony and others. The Klipsch pricing was excellent for the specs. I knew the Klipsch reputation. Packaging was excellent. Arrived as expected. They look great and are solid. Manufacturing is very nice. 43 lb for the pair. I wish they came set up for banana plug connections but not a big deal. The connections are substantial and take Monster speaker wire. (Overkill I know). Spatially the speakers are crisp with good base. Listened to Van Morrison old, new, studio, and live. Argo Part, Yo Yo Ma, Bach, and John Adams to start. All of them sound completely new. Will have to wait until they break in to see after a hundred hours or so. Set up with an Adcom CD/preamp/amp due to space in the room. Speakers are 8 ft apart and listened at 12 ft, 16 ft, and 24 ft. Really pleased with everything. I highly recommend the Klipch RP-600M’s.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Does anybody care about Ohms and Watt? Where are the specs for these speakers?**
A: Their sensitivity of 96dB with 2.83V at 1 meter is what most distinguishes these Kliosch RP-600M from the majority of loudspeakers. 2.83V into 8 Ohms = 1 Watt, so the factory sensitivity spec is the same as saying 96 dB into 1W at 1 meter. The thing to understand is that each 3dB equates to a doubling of sound pressure level. So a speaker with 96dB sensitivity will deliver twice the volume of a speaker with 93dB sensitivity or four times the volume of a speaker with 90dB sensitivity - for any given amount of Watts coming from your amplifier, at ang given listening distance. The Definitive Technology SM45 bookshelf speakers (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005XXMMG4) have a sensitivity of 90dB, thus requiring four times as much power to achieve the same SPL (sound pressure level) at any given disrance, compared to the 96dB Klipsch RP-600M. Generally speaking, inefficient (low sensitivity) loudspeakers matched with high powered (yet still low distortion) amplifiers sound better than efficient speakers with proportionately lower powered amps, but it's easier and less expensive to design a low-distortion amp having less power, than it is to design a high powered amp that still has a low THD+N. Therefore, in my opinion, the reason these Kliosch RP-600M sound so good to so many people is... most peopke are using inexpensive, relatively low-powered receivers or integrated amps that nevertheless have *enough* power to tightly control the power-hungry bass frequencies, especially, but also tightening up the mids, resolving more detail, if the DAC is decent, which improves soundstage and imaging.

In short, these speakers are so efficient, they make cheap amps sound good, but having borrowed a friend's pair for awhile, I prefer my DefTech SM45 when powered with a boutique Class D amp, not sold by Amazon. My friend drives his Klipsch RP-600M with the low-powered Reisong A10 tube amp, which I must admit, sounds very musical, taking the edge off the treble a bit, for enjoyable fatigue-free listening. **Q: I have a Sansui G-6000, 65 watts per channel. I would work well with these speakers?**
A: I don't want to get into an argument on this forum (tastes differ!) but it depends on what you're planning to listen to. If you're listening to music in stereo, your Sansui will be sweeter than virtually anything you can buy today for less than $1K (probably more than that). Vintage stereo receivers from that era (Sansui, Marantz, Pioneer, Harman Kardon, Luxman, etc.) were well built and serious about audio quality. The 65 watts they specify are 'old school' watts - a conservative estimate based on both channels driven at 8 ohm 50 - 20,000 hz with minimal distortion. Most modern receivers (particularly AVR receivers) grossly overstate their power capabilities and will distort far earlier. That having been said these speakers are very efficient so your Sansui (and a modern AVR receiver) will have way more power than you need and should drive them with ease. If you purchase a new AVR receiver I'd be interested to hear your opinion on which sounds the better - the new one or your Sansui. Assuming the Sansui's components are not in need of a refresh I know which one I'd pick! (It also has an excellent phono section). If you're doing surround sound and home theater then ignore everything above.

**Q: Can these be used as desktop speakers? I have a very large L-shaped desk (almost 4 feet deep at the L).**
A: Yes you can, but why? These speakers need a little room to breath. They sound their best 1 1/2-2 feet from the wall. Why would anyone want to tame these beasts? They will kick like a mule of put in the right listening position as well as just great sound reproduction. They sound as good or better than most tower speakers I've heard. You wouldn't buy a Ferrari and only take it out in residential neighborhoods at 35-40 miles an hour. Let them stretch their legs so to speak.

**Q: What are the dimensions of these speakers**
A: Roughly 8 in wide x12 in deep x16 in tall

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Big Sound Stage, Modest Size
*by C***A on May 7, 2026*

These are astounding for this price point. I got them to replace ten inch two way vintage early 80’s cabinets. Paired them with a Klipsch sub that I purchased a while back. The horn drivers give these speakers a warm and incredibly detailed sound stage. On their own the low frequency response is quite respectable so I set my system crossover at 80 hz. Jazz is amazing, like sitting in an audience listening live. I played an early 80’s doors album on my turntable and it just rocks. You won’t be sorry if you buy these.
