This ermine was attacking my chickens and I shot it with my 9mm handgun which I thought was neat and figured I’d try to tan it. The end result is a super soft pelt, the hide turned into a soft leather which could be used to make gloves etc. which video and pictures will show. I accidentally spilled some of the tanning oil on the fur which after it was done drying and breaking I scrubbed with dawn soap, rinsed, then cold air dried in the dryer. The video is the end result. For breaking I ran it over the edge of the counter 4 times per day, 10 minutes each, for 3 days. Looking forward to tanning pelts now, lots of work…. But fun to do. The other time I use a two part oiling system from a taxidermy company. I will definitely use this from here on out. I don’t have to buy two different oils and I know how much shipping is gonna be from the start. The other company charges shipping later. I also like this scraper.
