It is over a million years old already. **Q: This product is Sodium Bentonite & 'can' be used for ingestion by many of the reviewers below, on this page. Amount of sodium please?** A: As I am finding out, sodium bentonite is not what you read about when you hear "bentonite clay". Calcium Bentonite is used in the skin care industry. The is sodium bentonite, which is used in industrial sealant of ponds and wells. Farthmore, when you search for information on this company (that is claiming its food grade) you can't find any. I did see where they commented that this clay is mined in the Black Hills area.... Which is polluted from old mining operations. I ordered this clay back in 2018, thinking it was the same as the clay I used as a teen. But this clumps and is very irritating on my skin. Turns out, this stuff is used for sealing old Wells and Ponds **Q: how much lead is in this clay?** A: This is the article from the Wellness Mama. https://wellnessmama.com/59694/lead-in-bentonite-clay/ I've also used Food Grade diatomaceous earth. Kind of works the same way. The same company sells it too. **Q: Where is the product manufactured, where is it sourced, how pure?** A: Hi- we are the manufacturer and owner of the Fossil Power brand. The bentonite clay is sourced from a mine in the Black Hills region. As for the purity, our COA document states "Hydrous aluminum silicate comprised principally of the clay mineral montmorillonite. Montmorillonite content 85% minimum. Contains minor amounts of feldspar, calcite, and quartz." Thank you for your interest. ## Frequently Bought Together - FOSSIL POWER Bentonite Clay Food Grade Powder 2 Lb – Natural Heavy Metal Detox & Pore Cleansing | Indian Healing | DIY Hair & Facial Mask Treatment for Oily Skin | Toothpaste, Deo, Bath & Foot Soak - Essential Oxygen Food Grade Hydrogen Peroxide, Natural Cleaner, 3% USP, White, 16 Ounce - MAJESTIC PURE Peppermint Essential Oil with Glass Dropper | 100% Pure and Natural Peppermint Oil | Premium Grade Essential Oils for Diffusers, Skin, Aromatherapy, Massage | 4 Fl Oz --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.tn/products/80606527-fossil-power-bentonite-clay-food-grade-natural-powerful-detoxifying-powder](https://www.desertcart.tn/products/80606527-fossil-power-bentonite-clay-food-grade-natural-powerful-detoxifying-powder) --- *Product available on Desertcart Tunisia* *Store origin: TN* *Last updated: 2026-10-22*
