When we first played this magnetic chess-style game, I thought the game was a total bust. I placed all 20 magnets flat inside the rope circle and none of them attracted to each other--which made it feel pointless. Then I reread the instructions and realized the magnets need to be placed standing upright vertically. That completely changes how they interact and makes the challenge much more interesting. Once we corrected that, the game worked as intended. One thing I appreciated right away is that the magnets are enclosed in plastic shells. Many magnetic marble games use strong exposed magnet balls, which can be especially hazardous for young children. These are still magnets and require supervision, but the larger plastic casing makes them less risky than small loose magnet marbles. I also really like that the box is small with no wasted space, and everything fits neatly inside. It's compact enough to toss in a backpack or purse, making it great for travel, camping, or passing the time. The quality isn't stellar, however, it is a fun and portable game.
