Headphones great...Once i got them hooked up.

*by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on August 12, 2012*

Purchased headphones for my every once in a while late night gaming sessions on ps3 and xbox360. The wife suggested to get a pair so i did my research and read lots of reviews and chose the Siberia v2's. I dont normally write a review but im doing so in hope i can answer a question or two for somebody else which i had trouble finding the answer for myself.set-up....I have my 60" plasma mounted on the wall with all cords in the wall with my xbox360, ps3, computer and cable box all running separate hdmi cables to the back of my TV. I then have an optical audio running from my digital audio out of my tv through the wall down to my pioneer receiver's optical in for audio. i have hdmi switching on my receiver but chose to hook it up this way directly while only needing to change the tv input and keep receiver input the same for 3d viewing purposes and 1080p.my problem...the headphones come with a 3.5 mm headphone jack and--an RCA piggy back connector to hook your headphones directly to the PS3 or 360's red and white cables which then go directly into the back of the TV. First, i don't have the analog connectors for either system (got lost or i misplaced them since i figured i would never us them) and even if i did, my mounted tv is only so far off the wall that if i tried to piggy back the rca's they wouldnt fit.I contacted steel series via email asking if there was a solution to my set up and an easier way to hook the headphones up and i basically got told after a two day response time that "wow you have a pretty nice set up but i dont have a solution. sorry if we weren't that much help"I then spent more time researching if anyone else had my problem but couldn't find anything (hopefully that's not because im missing something so simple) . i do most of my shopping on amazon and i started to look up different splitters/connectors that might help. i found for the 360: Gen RCA Audio Cable Adapter for XBOX 360 + Slim which i bought. it plugs right into the 360 and allows the provided "piggy back" rca from the headphones to plug right into the adapter and bam i got the sound from my 360 while still getting sound through my receiver which i could just turn down.i Still had no solution for my ps3. Assuming they would make the same kind of adapter as the 360 i looked but i couldn't find anything similiar. i then started looking at my receiver as an option. understanding this might have been an option if i had my original analog system hookups which i obviously dont have...i have a headphone jack which is a 1/4in on the front of my receiver. obviously bigger than the 3.5mm standard jack the headphones provide. i purchased a 3.5mm female to 1/4 male adapter hoping that will solve the problem but not sure since i have yet to receive it. i will update once i do and hopefully that will be the solution. as easy as it may have been this whole time.As for the sound quality and the feel of the headphones...Ive never owned a pair before but its a whole new experience for gaming. using 5.1 is great until your wife starts complaining its too loud but when the headphones are on i keep finding myself taking them off just to make sure the craziness that is happening with them on is not happening in the room. Sound is great, you hear things you've never heard before and the they feel extremely light on your head.If anyone else has an idea for me or a better way to hook them up please let me know. i feel im pretty good when it comes to hooking this stuff up but when i got these i was definitely in a struggle looking for a solution. Having the original rca hookups for each system might have saved a headache but for my situation i figured there had to be an other solution.

The best headset for under $100.

*by C***Y on Reviewed in the United States on July 20, 2012*

I'll give you my review of this product first, than my gaming background and finally my favorite PS3 and PC audio setup.Ok, This is my Favorite "Headset" (not headphones)its really a great deal. The Build Quality is really good and very confortable. I love the design the most. Instead of building the audio-mixer into the line, they made it so you can plug any 3.5mm headphone/earbud and mic into the port on the mixer. This allows me to use my ad700's and my zalman clip on mic for for the best audio quality and at the same time have chat and game volumes that are adjustable coming in the same headphone. Yes, you can use your overpriced beats headphones on your ps3 with chat. But the included headset is a decent headset. It is lacking some bass through. It also works on the PC, ps3 and Xbox.Pros:Great designVery ComfortableGood Lows, Mids, HighsGreat removable audio mixerCons:Bass could be betterSeems to have to many cables.I would say its one of the best headsets under $100. I would also suggest you buy the Turtle Beach DDS (not DDS2) so you get a virtual 7.1. Its better than any 5.1 headphone or other virtual 7.1 processor. It really helps in COD.--------------------------------------------------------------My Background. DDS2 is 4.1 and has a worse processor chip) DDS will allow you to get virtual 5.1/7.1 surround sound through any speaker/headphone/earbud with a 3.5mm plug. It has optical spdif in and also 3.5mm in. Its powered by usb to mini usb cable(same as ps3 controller)and has a pass through for any other usb device. You may get background noise because of harddrive and other elctrical noise, but it is minimal and depends on the dds and ps3 you have. To bypass this you could buy a external battery for a cellphone that has a usb out. This would power the dds without any electrical interference. With the SteelSeries Cross plateform AudioMixer you have separate volume control for game and chat and also a fade function for chat. It will automatically lower the game volume for chat when someone talks. I turn it off though. Mic mute option.Low BASS Option: The AD700 headphone is my favorite headphone. Its so comfortable, it's like wearing earmuffs. The sound is so crisp and clear. Great build quality and awesome cord. Just lacks a little in the bass.Good BASS Option: The ATHM50S headphone is a great value and better than Beats. Its got great bass and crisp n clear audio. Good build quality and awesome cord. Its also fold-able. I think it may have to much bass. But mine isn't burned in yet.Zalman is a excellent omni direction mic. I always come in clear to my friends and the cord length is the same as my headphone cord. The Mic just clips onto the cord on the left can.Note* With this setup you will have a few cords and it may seem like a mess if you dont coil them and shorten them.----------------------------------------------Favorite Audio Setup PCLow Bass Headphones: $90 Audio Technica ATH-AD700Good Bass Headphones: $120 Audio-Technica ATHM50SSound Card: $200 ASUS Xonar Essence ST PCI Sound Card.Clip on Microphone: $9 Zalman Zm-Mic1The ASUS Xonar Essence ST sound card is one of the best sound cards out there. I think its the best. A close second would be HT Omega Claro Halo: Both are 24-bit/192kHz and both have built in headphone amps. Asus uses its own ASUS AV100 Audio Processor. HT Omega uses the C-Media Oxygen HD CMI8788 Audio Processor. Both are good, but the asus has an standalone power connection and an electrical noise filtering system. If you buy the asus, make sure you throw the driver disc away and download the latest drivers and install it. Both have Dolby Headphones , virtual 7.1 and PL IIx. Both are good options. 5/5
