Review: A generous supply of excellent quality seed, good for transplanting and good for woodchucks - The seed is very clean, germinates almost perfectly, and there is a lot of seeds here. This is now my favorite lettuce for spring in western tennessee and our fat woodchuck has given it his seal of approval by eating it in preference to anything else in our garden. He can go through a half dozen lettuce plants in an evening (he only eats half of each plant). It is very pretty green, tender and quite tasty. (There is now a big live-trap offering fresh leaves of this great lettuce to the woodchuck...) I start the plants indoors in 3" deep seed starter trays under a grow light and put them in place in the garden when they are still small but sturdy. Use good starter mix, put three seeds in each cell, thin to one seedling per cell, keep it under a plant light until it is 2" tall, then move the cube of soil+plant into a small hole in the garden taking care to not disturb the soil when lifting it into the garden. This is good seed for transplanting and I could easily get as many lettuce plants as my garden can handle from this one package, but not quite as much as the woodchuck would like.
