Ouvrage remarquable pour l'auto-apprentissage, même s'il demande un peu plus qu'un niveau de débutant absolu. Les exercices d'application sont nombreux et l'ouvrage est exigeant au niveau de la capacité du lecteur à répéter des exercices de consolidation des notions. Pour ce que je peux en comprendre (avec mon niveau de maths), au sens de la vision des mathématiques de cet ouvrage, l'accent est mis sur la compréhension concrète des opérations mathématiques, c'est un ouvrage qui met peu l'accent sur la formalisation et le jargon, la compréhension précède toujours la formalisation, jamais l'inverse. Les formules et théorèmes sont démontrés et d'une manière totalement accessible (et mémorisable), ce qui est un gros point fort. C'est un ouvrage qui fait rentrer intelligemment dans la compréhension. Il y a un parti-pris des exercices, ils sont quasiment tous dans le proche prolongement des notions expliquées et des exemples commentés, donc ça en fait un outil très robuste pour l'auto-apprentissage, peut-être moins pour des lecteurs cherchant à être déstabilisés. La qualité physique du livre (je l'ai recouvert immédiatement cependant) est excellente, le papier légèrement glacé, la mise en page est à la fois efficace et attrayante. Je le recommande totalement.
