Review: W Razor Saw - I love this thing! Cutting up everything!
Review: Amazing! - Not sure why it took me this long to discover the Japanese Ryoba saw. This saw seems to "know" where to go. I made about 30 complex cuts in an afternoon and the saw followed the marks exactly. It's extremely sharp and ends cuts so-close to the edge the the wood doesn't tear-out. Cuts are very thin so it only requires about 3 fingers on the saw to pull it through a 2x4. The blade is replaceable, so you can try other designs or replace a worn blade. I keep the saw in the original plastic packaging sleeve, this is good enough for occasional use.

## Features

- Modern variation of the traditional Japanese pull-stroke saw
- 2 saws in 1
- Use finer side for crosscut work
- Turn over to use for rip work
- .5mm thick blade gives a fine kerf

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Is this saw really durable? Can it used for tennon cutting? Can it be sharpen?**
A: This is a very good saw. I don't know if you're familiar with Japanese saws already, but they cut on the pull stroke. If you position yourself so that you are holding the saw at a 45 degree angle with the tip of the handle pointing towards the floor and pulling down into the cut, kind of like crouching in front of the wood with the wood higher than your hand, you will get the best results. I had a tendency at first to hold the saw like a western saw that you would PUSH into the cut, holding the handle above the wood with the saw plate angled down to the wood and the handle higher than the saw plate like I wanted to push the saw-cut down into the wood. That does not work. If used on the downward pull-stroke, this saw cuts super-clean. You could cut tenons with this saw, but I have found I use this saw more for odds and ends. It's very small and not as precise as some of the other gyokucho saws. If you want to cut great tenons and dovetails, then go with one of the gyokucho saws with the longer white colored handles. I bought the 303 on Amazon too and it is great for joinery. And it's only like 10 dollars more. Well worth it. And no, the blade cannot to be sharpened, but the teeth are induction hardened, and when eventually they dull, you can order a replacement blade that is very easy to replace onto the handle. And when you buy only the replacement blade it's very affordable.

**Q: Where is this saw made?**
A: Honestly not sure...however I have used it several times and now wonder why I didn't get one sooner. Cuts beautifully, even hardwoods and PVC!

**Q: How long is the blade? Can it be used for crosscuts and rips in hardwood?**
A: The blade is 7 and 3/16 inches long. Coarse teeth on one side of the blade and fine teeth on the other side enable both ripping and crosscutting with the same blade. I have used these saws for years. You can do very fine work with them, and if you are careful they will last for a long time. They are superior to any American saw for small handwork.

**Q: What are the exact dimensions for the blade? I am Looking for height from teeth to spine, kerf, and length of cutting portion of the blade**
A: cutting portion of blade is 18 centimeters; 5 1/2 centimeters at the short end of blade; 7 centimeters at the long end of the blade; kerf is 1 millimeter.

This has quickly become my new favorite saw in the shop. I even saved part of the thick vinyl wrapping that it came with to make a sheath so I can mount it to my magnet strip when not in use. I will most likely be buying the entire Gyokucho saw line and build a proper stand for them all. The teeth are very sharp. The handle is good for all day use. The blade stays straight through the whole cut and only flexes when you want it to. At the price, it is easily the best trim saw I've ever use. This saw is a must in my shop. I feel confident saying I will never buy another brand again.
