Measure carefully before installing. It's been working great for 2 months now. **Q: Can this be mounted vertically?** A: There is nothing to prevent a vertical mount; however you should consider (1) whether the spring on the front flap is strong enough to close when it is not assisted by gravity and (2) whether you would be comfortable with a back flap that remains open (because it relies on gravity for closure, and thus may not close automatically in a vertical mounting). We've had one of these vertically mounted in our office for over a year and it has worked fine in that configuration. FYI…I’ve been a general contractor for over 50 years and even I was swearing up a storm. The designers of this should had made the bolt sleeves longer to make it easier to reach and screw in the bolts. Also I have 1 3/4 thick doors and the screws were too long. No biggy, I just cut them but c’mon.
