Although they are adorable shoes, I rated the shoes 4 stars because of the smaller sizing in comparison to other brands. The material has glitter that makes them sparkle. These shoes will look great with both casual clothes and dresses. They remind me of the "jelly shoes" from a generation ago but with better insoles. The mini melissa shoes do have an odor. I don't find it offensive but I'm not a fan of the scent.Thanks to the reviews of others, I ordered a size larger and they are still smaller than expected. Because of the pliable material, they do seem to be comfortable for her and make it possible to wear a slightly smaller shoe than a shoe of a more ridged fabric or material. I have attached photos to compare the sizing of other several brands. The mini Melissa size 5 shoe is smaller than the Pediped 12-18 month/US 5-5.5 and also smaller than the see kai run size 4 sneaker.
