It's light and has a sensitive tip. Anyone who thinks the butt is too long obviously doesn't know how to cast a surf rod. The length of the fighting butt is perfect for getting that pendulum action to gain momentum for that long cast. I've already landed several nice stripers just today. I did not follow the advice to sand the contacts and my pole was stuck together for quite some time which was annoying.
