It works exactly as advertised. With your tree lying down, you take the enclosed "boot" and slide it over the trunk, screw it in, lift up the tree and set it in the stand, wait for it to settle down and click in place. To turn it, you just press the lever with your toes, turn it down into the base and listen for it to click in place...Just that simple. I got tired of the hassle of fresh trees and for the past several years I have gone through 3 rather expensive artificial trees trying to find the perfect one and ended up giving them away. I had decided to go back to a live tree.
