To check fit, I took out the old lamp, ensured the correct fitting, measured it and checked there was enough clearance in the compartment, as this lamp was slightly longer than the one it replaced. The company supplied two at a reasonable price and give a guarantee. It has now been in my machine for almost two years with no problems at all. **Q: will they fit a normal lamp socket and would they be ideal for kids night lights** A: They will fit a B15 socket which is smaller than the "normal" household B22 bayonet socket. B15 is the same/similar to the E14 screw bulb socket, the "Candle bulb", the smaller version of the normal screw E22 bulb. Apart from that, it emits quite a bright light, so not sure if it is suitable for your purpose. If you have bayonet sockets you would need to go by the size of the socket you have and by the wattage you need (the brightness of the bulb/lamp) Maybe for a kids night light use the lowest possible wattage, depending whether you want have an LED "economic", bulb doesn't get hot but the socket can, or a Filament bulb, the "old style" which will get hot as they do. Can anyone shed any light on this for me???** A: The number of contacts is indicated by the small letter after the item descriptor - d for double, s for single. These are the nobbles where the lamp connects into the holder. If you type the kind of fitting you need (bayonet/Edison) into your search and add single contact, you'll eadily find what you need. Single contacts are easily identified as they come into a single point under the fitting and this can usually be seen in the picture of the item. Good luck. **Q: What’s the max operating temperature? Is it suitable for cooker hood?** A: 1. I reckon these bulbs are too small for a cooker hood. 2. The temperature within the cooker hood should never reach a level that "would make an led bulb unusable". 3. I am using led bulbs in my hood and never had any problems, though not this kind of bulbs, I have the E14 (candelabra bulbs) which are chunkier and more robust. 4. These are a nice "white" light , if you know what I mean and have the advantage that they don't get as hot as the old style bulbs, which is a bonus. The only thing that I would mention is that the base/ collar, where the bulb goes into the fitting, is slightly larger than the old bulb, which makes it somewhat awkward to fit. But, it goes in with a bit of fiddling.Longevity? Haven't had it long enough but, three months of occasional use, it's still going strong so I can't see any issues. The only downsides, from my own point of view, are that, 1) This is a bright, cold white light, hardly “warm white”, and I would have liked a bulb that emitted a more cosy, golden glow.
