I figured I'd do it in the spring, or that hopefully the grass would eventually die out without enough light. Nope, grass just kept growing and I had to use a small cordless trimmer to cut the grass around those plants. I really wanted to get the grass out, but I could never figure out a method to actually get between the plants to remove the grass without killing myself and the plants and saw this blade. With this tool I was able to dig out all the grass from around and under the plants in a short time. The tool actually rips up the roots just by slicing into the soil, no more back-breaking job trying to shovel under the roots anymore. I've got a 50' section of fence I want to remove a 1.5' border of grass from, and at least 35' of that is around existing plants, daylilies, other flowers, that I've been dreading and putting off. This tool will make that job so much easier, it just became indispensable and is a must have from now on. One way is as a very handy way to cut small stems, such as when I'm picking okra, zuchinni, even tomatoes. I also have used it as a way to cut out small strips of sod, taking the blade like a scythe but under the soil. It works VERY well.
