I have large upper arms and sometimes sleeves fit snug, but the XL was perfect, not tight, but not loose either. When the blouse is not tied, it's very big, square, & not flattering; tying it is definitely recommended. Reviews indicated that tying it caused the front to be too short, and would cause the tummy area to be seen when arms were raised, and this is true, if you don't button the bottom button before tying. I unbuttoned the bottom button, then tied and while it was cute, it easily exposed my tummy some. So I buttoned the bottom button, then tied, and no tummy was exposed when I raised my arms. I was still able to get that loose, oversized look. I think if I had gone up two sizes instead of just one, it would have been too big around my chest area (38C). I ordered the red, and it's not red. It's more of a burnt brick, or pinto bean color. I would have preferred it not hang on my bottom like it does, but it does because of the material type & because I have a healthy bottom size. Even if I had gone up two sizes, it would have sat on my bottom like it does because of the material type. It’s just as the photos show and can be worn tied, open as a cardi (I wasn’t sure how it’d look this way but it’s adorable) or just plain with the front tucked in jeans. The red is a really pretty deep burgundy color. The buttons function so it’s breastfeeding friendly which is a huge selling point for me.
