But the bottom of the rack hangs loose, which doesn't look all tight and neat, unless you can affix it to the bottom of the floor some way. I can't do that in our closet, so it's hanging loose at the bottom of the rack, but it is fine, and works well. **Q: Are the caps hanging on hooks or on hooks so they are securely in place?** A: They fit the rope securely and they won't slide down even when there are 2 caps on each clip (I haven't tried more than 2) but the weight or the caps pull the clip forward. When hung is a place where they won't be disturbed this isn't a problem. If they are hung some where where they are constantly bumped and brushed past we found that they could come loose. **Q: if it doesn't have a button will it still grip a big brim hat?** A: The button on top of the ball cap helps keep the cap in place. I don't think a big brim hat would work. **Q: How many hats can it hold** A: My son has one and it's not filled. I would say it holds 25-30 caps without messing up the crease in the cap. The directions weren’t very clear, and if you’re mounting it on a wall, you’ll probably have to improvise a bit — the hooks provided aren’t quite adequate. I ended up securing it my own way with some hardware I already had, and it worked great. Once it’s up, it holds hats securely and makes it super easy to see and display them. We have so many hats that I’ll probably order another one for my other child.
