## Description

The Anker advantage: join the fast charging technology. The Anker advantage: join the fast charging technology.

Review: Excellent charger, but Anker PowerCore 20100 battery is NOT compatible. - I wondered why my Anker PowerCore 20100 power bank would never charge from this solar charger, but would charge from a wall charger. So I performed some tests and found that if a cloud passes then the 20100 will drop to a trickle charge for the rest of the day. The 20100 dynamically reduces its charging current draw, but does not increase it. For example, if the sun is out the 20100 will charge at 2.0 Amps from this solar charger. If a cloud passes and the solar charger can only produce 0.25 Amps then the 20100 will reduce is current draw to 0.25 Amps (as it should). However when the sun comes back out the 20100 will still only draw 0.25 Amps, even though more than 2 Amps are available. This was verified using both the YZX Studio ZY1266 USB power monitor and the Drok Pocket Digital Multimeter. Anker support said the 20100 power bank was defective. I replaced it with a second one that behaved the same. I tested my older out of production Anker batteries: the Astro 3E also doesn't increase its charge rate, but the Gen 1 Astro E5 does. The E5 immediately responds when the sun comes back out and draws all available current from the solar charger. I again contacted Anker support and asked for a list of batteries that have been tested with and charge properly from the Anker solar charger. Anker could not produce anything so I was on my own. I purchased some other batteries to see what would work. The EasyAcc Monster 26000mAh Power Bank worked properly. Plus this battery has two charging ports so it can connect to both solar output ports and charge at greater than 2.0 Amps when enough sunlight is available. The Anker Astro E7 26800mah Power Bank works perfectly with the Anker solar charger. The RavPower 26800mah Power Bank works properly in almost all conditions with the Anker solar charger. However if the sunlight drops too low and the charger produces close to 0 ma, but then the sun comes out before the solar charger powers off, the RavPower would not charge anymore. None of the other batteries had this particular problem. I also have the ChoeTech 19W SunPower Solar Charger so I tried the RavPower with it and found that the ChoeTech will reset the USB connection within a few seconds of this happening. So the ChoeTech/RavPower combination works fine. But if you use the RavPower with the Anker solar charger you might come back to your battery at the end of the day to find it didn't charge.
Review: LOVE Anker Products. Perfect fit for what I bought it for. Plus, peace of mind for emergency home use too. - Bought this prior to a house boat trip to Lake Powell. Thought it would be better (and quieter) to use a solar charger rather than burn gas on the boat to recharge-use small items like cell phones, battery packs for LED lights and portable speakers. Love this little solar charger. We had sort of 'absolutely ideal' conditions to use it in: high desert with lots of sun almost no shade or clouds -and the solar charger worked great. charged phones from 0 to 91% in just about the same time (or maybe even faster in our situation) than it would have taken to recharge items via an outlet on the boat. My friends had a small dog with them who actually walked straight over the panel (I had the panel laid out on the shore with a couple of phones stashed under it) -other than a few paw prints than wiped away - didn't seem to hurt the panels performance so it's a fairly durable items. don't think it would hold up very well if a human accidentally stepped on it but that's not what it's designed for. It's fairly compact and light for what it is. It might be a little heavier than what I would want to bring with me on say a back packing trip but I wouldn't be bringing so many electronic items on a back [packing trip either. For 'glamp-ing' though- camping where you want some of the comforts of home- this is a fantastic item. I also own 3 separate Anker rechargeable lithium Ion batteries, which work great in conjunction with this charger, but the charger worked great whether we plugged our iPhones, or music players directly into the charger or charged the battery packs then powered devices via the batteries (of use tiny Anker batteries to power fairy light LED strings for soft ambient light in the evenings that do not over power the beautiful stars) Anker PowerCore 10000, One of the Smallest and Lightest 10000mAh External Batteries, Ultra-Compact, High-speed Charging Technology Power Bank for iPhone, Samsung Galaxy and More Anker 21W Dual USB Solar Charger, PowerPort Solar for iPhone 7 / 6s / Plus, iPad Pro / Air 2 / mini, Galaxy S7 / S6 / Edge / Plus, Note 5 / 4, LG, Nexus, HTC and More

## Questions & Answers

**Q: I bought Anker's massive 26,800 mah battery the one that comes with Qualcomm Quick charge 2.0 was wondering how long it would take to charge with this**
A: Just a quick note: Anker has TWO PowerCore 26,800 mAh batteries in production (as of 2/2017). One includes a Qualcomm QC 3.0 compatible charging port (& 2 PowerIQ ports), but has only one micro-USB charging port for the battery pack itself (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Portable-Ultra-High-Capacity-Recharges/dp/B01N3TVRP2). The other loses QC 3 (it has 3 PowerIQ ports), but gains an additional micro-USB charging port for decreasing charge time for the battery pack (https://www.amazon.com/Anker-PowerCore-Portable-Double-Speed-Recharging/dp/B01JIWQPMW). If you are looking for fastest possible charge time for a battery pack while camping, I would recommend you choose the latter model for use with any of these portable solar panels (all of which have two USB connections, as far as I've seen).

**Q: Does this product offer any kind of rain resistance? Can it be used outdoors in a rainy day?**
A: I left mine outside on a covered porch, up on a chair. It did get wet, not drenched soaked, and it won't work. I'm going to call the company though because I never even used it (this was my first time "charging" it and we got a freak rain come through) and I want to make sure I'm even doing it correctly and didn't just get a bad one. If I did everything correctly, I won't be purchasing another one!

**Q: could i use both usb ports on the solar panel to maximise charging to one device? any built-in intelligence to combine both USB ports when one is used**
A: Solar panels are rated for the best possible case of 1,000 w/m2 solar irradiance. I tested this panel in N CA using a Pyranometer to measure the actual solar irradiance over a range of conditions and electronic instrumentation to measure the solar panel's actual output wattage. In summary, even in summer over the case of a day, the solar irradiance averaged about ½ of the maximum possible and the output of the panel averaged 10.82 watts. That input to a USB battery is 2200 mAh at 4.92V. As long as the USB battery used supports this range of input, it will utilize the average potential of this solar charger.Average solar radiation for a location on the northern hemisphere with a latitude angle of 47° - 55°:sunny, clear sky summer: 600 - 1000 W/m² - Wattage rating for a panel is 1000 w/m2winter: 300 - 500 W/m²sunny, scattered clouds or partly cloudysummer: 300 - 600 W/m²winter: 150 - 300 W/m²cloudy, fogsummer: 100 - 300 W/m²winter: 50 - 150 W/m²The EasyAcc Monster 20000mAh Power Bank (4000 mAh Dual-Input specification but, I measured a max input of only 1830 + 1640 = 3470mAh using two 2.4A inputs). It will only charge faster than a conventional battery of similar capacity, such as Anker PowerCore 20100, using a dual wall charger capable of outputting a minimum 2.0 amps out each port or a much larger solar charger that will average 3470 mAh over 6 hours of the day needed to charge the battery. That will not happen using the Anker 21W solar panel which will average ~2200 mAh over 6 hours of summer sun. The single input port Anker batteries will closely max the average output capacity of the Anker 21W solar panel.I frequently correspond with thru-hikers who need to quickly charge battery capacity in the 20000 mAh range. Historically I have suggested a dual 2.4A wall charger in combination with 2 Anker PowerCore 10000 batteries. The measured output on the two ports is 2,600 mAh each. This combination weighs 3 oz. less than a single EasyAcc Monster and provides redundancy to protect against a battery failure. The charge rate for 20,000 mAh aggregate capacity is faster because both inputs accept 2100 mAh versus what I measured on the EasyACC Monster of 1830 and 1640 mAh.

**Q: Could i use this to keep my phone charged when i camp out for star wars seats?**
A: I just come back from camping and this solar panel works great i charge 2 cellphones and a 10 inch table and battery backup in direct sun light charge faster
