**Q: what is the diameter?**
A: 3 1/4 inches

**Q: How does this protect any equipment if it is not electrically connected to the equipment?**
A: According to physics it can’t. Zinc and other metals are used as sacrificial anodes for boats and other metal objects like the bases of TC and cell towers, and work. But they always have a direct metal connection to the metal they are protecting, otherwise they don’t work. 

If your skimmer basket was steel this would help keep it from rusting, but if it’s plastic it won’t do anything.

**Q: Can I put these in my wedding case stairs in my above ground pool?**
A: Product was designed to put into your pool strainer.  You could zip tie to the metal railing that is submerged in the water.

**Q: What is the thickness?**
A: It is about 1/4 inch in thickness

I can't believe I've been without this for so long. I have had the problem of my skimmer basket floating out of the skimmer for, like, forever. It's so annoying. I have the filter on a timer to go on at night. In the morning, when it shuts off, the skimmer would float out and TURN UPSIDE DOWN! So, if I was in a rush or forgot to empty the basket, the next time the filter turned on, all the debris would just go straight into the filter! And, the basket in the way of the flow of water would make the filter cavitate. Now, with the weight, that never happens! I did not secure the weight to my basket, I have two baskets, and I dump/turnover the full one into the empty one, remove the weight, then empty the debris. I can then return the dry/empty basket to the skimmer. I may just buy a 2nd weight so that I can attach them and not worry about losing it. (PS - I tried rocks, stones, etc. before buying this - they were a pita because they were too difficult to pick out of the basket. A large rock would block too much of the flow of water.)
