Review: Best Flight Stick, IMO - This isn't your average flight stick. Oh no. This is a flight simmer's dream. After doing my due diligence on it, I already expected it to be high quality before I purchased it, but after receiving it, it was evident that that bar was raised even higher. First off, these things are heavy. If you're like me and like your tech to have a bit of heft, then these are for you. Even the UPS guy was like, "What did you order, gym weights?" When I saw they had bolt holes drilled into them I sort of figured they need a permanent mount. Nope! Rest assured, once you put these puppies in place, they're not moving anywhere. You're not just gonna toss these aside when you're done with your aeronautic adventures. And although the wide plate underneath the flight stick takes up a decent amount of space, it prevents any tipping, even in the most chaotic of dogfights. Software Controller It comes with control software that allows you to set up different configurations for use in different applications. So you no longer need to reprogram buttons from one sim to another. You'll have your DCS, MSFS2020, or Star Citizen controls already programmed so you can just load them up and go. The software also gives you the ability to brighten or dim the LEDs on the throttle control. Flight Stick Modeled after the U.S. Air Force's A-10, this stick gives you the sensation of being in control of the actual aircraft. In DCS World, you have 1-to-1 control, so you no longer have to send commands to keys on your keyboard for those extra buttons. You can also purchase a separate stick modeled on the F/A-18. Throttle Control Lights, switches, and LED goodness reside within the box that houses the dual throttle controllers. The controllers have the option of working separately or as a single unit. It also comes with a removeable throttle stopper installed so you don't accidentally shut off your engines mid-flight or bump them into afterburner. It also has a friction controller that allows you to control how much resistance you feel on the throttle. Make it stiff when flying those huge air busses in MSFS2020 or loosen them up for fast response in fighter jets in DCS. Price - $$$ The price stood me off for a long time on these controllers, but once they were within my budget I jumped at the chance. While they won't appreciate in value, I do consider them an investment in my flight sim endeavors because I know I won't need another controller for a long, long time. PROS Well built, precision manufacturing Programmable configurations Heavy and durable CONS Price Takes up a decent amount of space
Review: Got a faulty product, cried. desertcart replaced it, smiled. - So I bought this from desertcart and had it shipped halfway across the world to me only to be disappointed that the joystick was faulty. I had set up my PC battlestation to receive the coveted Thrustmaster Hotas Warthog in it's full glory and loaded up my favorite flight sim but when I tried to connect the joystick my computer wouldn't recognize it. The throttle worked but the joystick didn't. After trying for hours to get it working I gave up and decided to test it elsewhere. I went to a friend's house and the same thing happened. The computer wouldn't acknowledge it. So I went to another friend's house and then to another friend's house and then to another friend's house. It just wouldn't work. It wasn't my computer it was the joystick. Apparently sometimes the wiring can get loose in the base but everything seemed to be in order. Sad, disappointed and broke I lost all hope of ever purchasing stuff online again. I decided to e-mail my predicament to desertcart anyway. In less than a week desertcart sent me a brand new Warthog to turn my frown upside down. No muss, no fuss, they were intent on ensuring I wasn't disappointed. I can finally fly with the Warthog. I can fulfill my destiny to be a fake virtual pilot. It was simply good customer service from desertcart. It's not easy to shop online when you're not based in the US but then desertcart comes along and makes it easier for the rest of us. My confidence in shopping with desertcart just went up a couple of notches. They made a sad customer happy. Time to break out the credit card again. The throttle and joystick itself is very solidly built. I've had other joysticks before, like Logitech and Saitek, but the build quality of the Warthog is just phenomenal. It's heavy and you can tell they use good quality materials to build this. Nothing plasticky about it. None of my friends can steal it from me. The thing is massive and heavy. Good luck sneaking it out of my house without me noticing. So far the joystick has never slipped from its position during gameplay. The grip feels nice for my medium-sized hands. The hat switch and triggers are all positioned comfortably within range of my fingers. Response is fast and accurate so far, and it helps that they use a very strong spring in the joystick. The cables are long enough to enable you to set your joystick and throttle in the right position for you. The bright green lights are a nice feature although I usually set it off because I don't want to burn it out. It takes time to configure every switch, knob and button to your liking but once you do you are going to get a more immersive gaming experience. You will still crash in your flight sims but at least you will crash in style. The throttle is also very solid, with enough variety of switches, knobs and buttons to satisfy most people. They actually feel solid and strong and look like it's made to last a long time. But don't ever let your kid play with it. Something like this needs to be taken care of and protected. I like that you can control the throttle for two engines independently. The feel is good too. It's responsive without being too tight. I can't give you a more technical review as I am just a casual sim gamer. I like my flight gaming experiences to be realistic but balanced without being too difficult. The Hotas Warthog enables me to use it casually when I want to, with just the single joystick and simple controls for arcade gameplay or go full retard and use the whole Hotas Warthog complete with 6 monitors, instrument panels, rudder pedals, flight suit, helmet and parachute under my computer chair for when I want to pretend I know how to fly a plane. Should you buy it? If you absolutely must have the best, appreciate good quality, have extra cash, like setting up and binding your own controls and play flight sims regularly then yes you should get it. If money is tight for you and you don't play flight sims regularly then there are other options for you in the market. Take note that if you don't have a permanent spot for the throttle and joystick it might feel like a chore to set it up every time you want to play it. It's not hard to set up (it's plug and play) but because of its size and weight you're going to get an extra workout for your arms every time you take it off the shelf or out of the closet. Maybe that's a good thing. You spend too much time reading desertcart reviews instead of exercising. Yes it is pricey, but it is absolutely pure quality. So is desertcart. Great product, great customer service. I am recommending this.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Why do they call it a Warthog? I think it looks more like a Puma.**
A: Front Tow hooks? Ugly? Weird looking? Lol the plane is only towed from the front wheel. That plane was beautiful, and although dubbed tank killer its 30mm guns were extremely effective at close air support saving countless American marine and army ground troops and ground troops from other allied countries being overran by enemy forces. Find another close air support plane from the 60s that's still in service because no other manned solution exists that is as effective. 4200 rounds per minute coming at you is a great standoff weapon. The a10 warthog is simplistic, stable at both high and low speeds and extremely efficient at blowing $#!+ up!!!! Brought to you by General Electric....."we bring good things to life"

**Q: I'm ready to buy, but I keep hearing about quality control issues and poor customer support. What's your experience been with these two things?**
A: The answer is simple and honest... rip the two controls out of the A10 and put them next to the Thrustmaster, main difference is the output. The A10 involves complicated wiring to devices, the Thrustmaster has only 2 USB cables. Otherr than that, the feel, the look, the accuracy is identical. Yes, I had the opportunity to get my hands-on the real thing, though I was not a pilot, only a tech. The enjoyment level is expotentially raised over having to use any other flight controllers including the top of the line other mfg. I have them and there is no comparison. The feel is so tight and responsive on both throttle and stick. The buttons are actual military spec with that definite click to them. Basically you will never have to use your keyboard while flying if you do not prefer as all the main functions are in the Thrustmaster. A perfect, beautifully, realistic replica. Yes, it is expensive, but so are all realistic aviation devices for PC. Compared to them, this is not that much at all for what you get. I never forsee as to any mechanical problems with this, as I have had it for awhile now and gave it many, many fun hours. Oh- the learning curve is a bit steep, but it is the real thing...Take a while to learn all the button functions which are in the 200 area. Trust me, if you are a serious flight simmer who wants only the best, this is it! The buttons are already all pre-confirured for the A10 like the real one exactly, but you can reprogram them anyway you want, plus the software which is very intuitive, has other plane configurations all ready for you at the click of a button. It amazes all my friends, especially with my lights dimmed and the LEDs brightly shining. It is very impressive, it really gives you a feeling of power as you almost think you are in a real A10. Amazon is the best place to purchase from, for price and ease of mind in case you receive a faulty product (I never have in all the years, no RMA's)I only had to contact them once or twice and the reps were very knowledgeable and helpfull. So what are you waiting for? Hurry up and enter the new fascinating world of realistic couch flying. Thrustmaster Warthog=Precision!!!

**Q: Could anyone please provide the exact dimensions for each of the Stick and Throttle by Length x width? Thank you.**
A: Joystick: base=10.5" Long x 9" wide x 1/8" thick, Stick = 7.5" from baseThrottle: base=10.5" Long x 6" Wide x 2.25" thick, Levers = 5.25" above base or 7.5" including base

**Q: My gaming laptops run using Windows 8 - is the HOTAS Warthog compatible with Windows 8? Can't find any reference to this. Thanks!**
A: Piffles, it works fine with Windows 8 and 8.1. Enjoy!

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Best Joystick Ever Made
*by C***R on January 7, 2013*

As a replica of the real A-10C joystick, right down to the materials, feel, and even sounds of the switches and buttons, what else would you expect but quality? The Stick is firm, and extremely precise thanks to the high resolution hall effect sensors which never wear out. The force needed to press buttons and hats is noticeably higher than in other sticks, ensuring that a missed press never occurs. The two stage trigger allows for extremely precise shots when using PAC in DCS A-10C. To round is all out, the included metal baseplate is extremely heavy, and there is no worry about your stick moving around on your table like some sort of roomba. A really big thing though, is that the same connectors as the cougar are in use for the stick mount, so if you want to use the stick from your old Cougar, they are completely interchangeable, which is nice, because the Warthog stick mount which contains all of the sensors is leaps and bounds ahead of the base model Cougar's. The throttle is another matter entirely. But that's only because it isn't just a throttle setup. It contains the entire throttle panel from the real A-10C, and also includes the LASTE panel which controls the autopilot functions of the aircraft. The buttons and switched on this weighty panel include a throttle friction adjustment, so if you are ever feeling like it is too easy or too hard to move the throttles, than this will come in handy. The actual throttle has an assortment of hats, buttons, and switches which are all laid out extremely ergonomically. Some of the buttons on the throttle are functional switches, but do not have functions in the A-10C as the throttle has some carry over from the F-15E throttle the real A-10C uses (they are non-functional in the real jet as well, or have functions pertaining to the use of secure voice comms which are not implemented in-game). You can map these buttons as they do work, but they will have no effect on the A-10C in DCS unless you map them separately. The really cool thing about this stick is that there is an easily modifiable afterburner detent that can be flipped to allow the use of either a detent, or not. Overall, the build quality is second to none. The stick is an EXACT replica of the stick and throttle in the real A-10C. This is bar none the easiest to use, and most precise HOTAS ever made.
