She would buy both sweet and sour boxes of tamarind. Back then they didn't sell the convenient wet blocks that are sold today. I've brought several different brands of tamarind on Amazon & I've come to the conclusion that this brand is one of the best. The tamarind wet block rarely contains any seeds or string. It does contain what appears to be the pod shell particles but regardless it's clean enough that I freeze it and cut it into small candy like pieces so that once in a while I'll pop one in my mouth for an all natural sour fix. I use it for cooking, juices and frozen ice's. I usually put it in luke warm water & then I strain it to remove all the particles. It does take some work but its well worth the effort.
