I liked it so much, I bought a bunch of them over Christmas and gave them to other guitarists as presents.I have a dozen guitars, this little fellow makes cleaning and servicing them quicker and easier. I used to use a paper towel wet with a spritz of glass cleaner to wipe the strings down after playing (then dress with some sort of light oil to prevent rust). I haven't used any cleanser at all with the String Cleaner - I just clamp it on and pull it up and down the guitar several times, and I'm sure both sides of the string are clean. I still dress the strings with light oil after cleaning to ensure no rust.Several reviews mention that it gets tight up near the first fret - yes, it does - but nothing problematic. It takes minimal effort to gently force the device to clean the strings all the way to the nut. All of my guitars are set with exceptionally low action and I can get the String Cleaner to clean the entire first-position without a problem. It's washable, too. I put it in a lingerie bag and throw it in the wash machine with clothes once every few weeks, then leave it in the sun on a window sill to dry. When I decided to start playing again I found the strings to have a bit of corrosion on them. I actually do like a slightly dulled sound on my guitar and I didn't want the brightness of new strings, so I decided to try this little device as a means of clearing the worst of the corrosion. Frankly, I wasn't expecting much, but it really did a nice job, giving me the sound I wanted to retain in my guitar.
