I didnt stencil directly on to the card I was making but made toppers instead. I think the pressure of the rollers in a machine would break them. Embossing folders are a more pliable plastic and are two fold, you put your card between the plates They are made to take the pressure of the rollers. Fab product ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Very flexible stencils, not rigid, take care using *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 6 February 2020* Bought for making/painting Christmas cards with daughter.Was sad that I impulse purchased these as I found an alternative set about half the price including the above identical stencils plus additional designs.Due to the flimsy extremely flexible material the stencils are made from, this set was too fiddly for a 5yr old to use without help holding the stencil corners down. Even still it kept flapping up in the centre when she applied paint. And brush would lift up and slide under the edges of the cut-out. We found the santa sleigh image particularly difficult to use as it is a large cut-out with narrow strips running through which move when touched with paint brush. You ideally need to hold down the centre of this one when using it.In future I would probably only use these stencils with spray paint, blo pens or sieved icing sugar (due to the flexibility of the stencil material and it moving about when painted).Also due to the intricacy and flexibility of stencils, a little excess paint can easily seep under the edges spoiling the design.They are very easy to clean as described and quick drying.
