Review: Reasonably priced meter and test strips - This is a nice glucose test kit. It is cheap and includes everything I needed to start tracking my glucose level. Best of all, this is not a hook where the company sells you a cheap meter and then gets you with expensive strips. No. The test strips are reasonably priced at around 20 cents per strip. After 200+ tests, the readings seem pretty consistent so far - if I eat the same food, I would get very similar readings afterwards. There were a few unusual readings, but those turned out to be the effect of the food itself. For example, after consuming a double burger, my glucose level went up and then down in an hour, but up again near the 1.5 half mark. Not sure about accuracy though. I did compare it with a tester of another brand. Their readings were similar at fasting level, but differed by a bit (>15) at higher levels.
Review: Thank you, Bayer. This monitor is a DREAM to use! - I want everyone to know how incredibly LUCKY you are to have this meter and lancet device. I have not had to test in 18 years, back when I had gestational diabetes. I am now testing again after menopause. This is night and day relative to what I used to use -- this thing is a dream. The monitor is small and easy to use. The lancet device is SO MUCH BETTER. Even on the "large blood drop" setting (ie, the "poker" for your finger is adjustable to various depths) where you extract more blood, you can barely feel it...and yet, when you wait a moment after using it, enough blood comes out of the tiny little hole to make the test work. My old lancet device used to hurt -- A LOT -- all day long. It left holes all over my hands. This won't do that. The other remark that I would make is that the instructions for this device are very clearly written. Sometimes with these types of devices, you get so frustrated trying to figure them out. Bayer must have devoted quite a bit of time to ensue that the user manual is clearly written. This is not some manual that was written in China. I didn't have to go and reread anything -- just opened it up and within 10 minutes, after perusing the booklet, did my first test. I don't have a life-and-death situation to monitor, so it is important to consider my situation if you do (ie, people for whom this device is a lifesaver might have other thoughts). But, for someone who is using it just to watch the sugar now and then, it is a piece of cake. One tip: the only problem I did have was when I used my test strips. The first test I did gave me a number outside of the valid test strip range. I had not done a gentle shake of the testing solution prior to using, which the manual says is necessary. I redid the test after gently shaking the bottle and it came out fine.

## Features

- No coding needed so there is one less step in the testing process

## Questions & Answers

**Q: What 's in the box? Thanks.**
A: I just got mine from my pharmacist because Medicare will no longer pay for the test strip drums for my Accucheck. :( Anyway, the box contains the meter a bunch of literature, an ad for their Home A1C meter with a $7-off coupon, 10 test strips, a lancet device, 10 lancets, 2.5 ml of control solution, a very cheap wallet, two log books, the manual, a quick reference guide, toll-free number for 24/7 care, their web site info, a card with a mysterious 7-digit number. Another card which says if you register, they will send you a free gift, your choice of a better wallet or 25 free lancets. The card also says that when you register, you can join the Contour Choice Program, which will give you free replacement batteries, extended warranty, and discounts on the test strips. Though a Choice Program membership card is already included in the box anyway. It does NOT come with a cable to connect the device to the computer. If you want to download your test results to a computer USB port, you need to buy a $15 cable directly from Bayer. I don't know how much they charge for shipping it. Their software is allegedly free, but you have to fill out a lot of information about yourself before they let you download it. I have just called their tech support and was told their software is proprietary. I asked because I use Microsoft HealthVault. According to the support guy, their driver is not compatible with HealthVault.Anyway, this is much more information than you requested, so I believe I have answered your question.

**Q: Is contourr next ez meter downloadable to pc**
A: Yes, it is. However, doing so requires an overpriced USB cable. The necessary software is free from Bayer, but be aware that it only works with Windows. There is no Mac version.

**Q: what all comes in the box**
A: You get the "Contour next EZ", a cheap case, a Microlet2 and about 10 lancets. Probably included a few test strips, but, I don't remember. At any rate you should but additional test strips. These are "Contour Next" strips. I think the device is a little more accurate than my previous one. The strips are also slightly more expensive. Good Luck

**Q: are the lancets able to be used for multiple people? say i want to use this at a summer camp and may potentially be testing several campers? are the lancets in a "pen-like" tester that houses several lancets or do you insert a new lancet each time?**
A: The lancets are single-load, single-use. So you would have to manually remove the old lancet and add a new one. You would also need to follow proper procedures regarding sterilization of the lancet device between patients

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Most Accurate of 3 Meters
*by L***Y on March 12, 2020*

I have an Accucheck Aviva, a Prodigy Auto Code, (very inaccurate) and this Contour. I ran a control solution test on all (3) meters, and the Contour had the narrowest range within the reagent. I then ran a glucose test on all 3 meters: The Contour measured 93, the Accucheck came in at 96, and finally the Prodigy came in at 140! I will be using the Contour as my go-to meter in the future. Also, the price was VERY friendly, and included a few strips, a few lancets, a lancet pen, a log book and control solution. Lastly, the price of the Contour test strips are the lowest of the 3 meters.
