It's very light weight (made of material like a mylar balloon), and while it can tear somewhat easily, it's made mostly for emergency use, not frequent use. It reflects body heat and can be really important for survival. Is a great addition during cold weather camping - lay over top of sleeping bag as an extra layer of insulation.As far as buying these on Amazon, keep your eyes out for frequent price changes - prices can vary by a great deal, both from seller to seller and even from week to week from the same seller, often by quite a lot. I've paid anywhere from $4 to $10 for a 4 pk., sometimes with free shipping, sometimes not.In summary, good product, can be a life saver, especially for the money, but keep an eye out for price variations and fluctuations. And I was recently ginseng hinting and got stuck a mile from where I parked my car in some pretty rough terrain. I took about ten feet of paracord and found a small tree that had fell and was leaning against a preferred. I draped then emergency blanket over the small tree and tied the four corners off to some surrounding saplings. It took around 5 mins to put together and worked beautifully as a small makeshift tent. I used to carry a 8 by 10 tarp until I discovered mylar. It's much lighter easier to carry in small packs and cheaper as well as reusable. I would recommend this to anyone from a stay at home mom to keep in her mo I van to avid outdoorsman and women. Many uses for this product sky's the limit and best of all they are cheap. I used one also in m garden this year, the birds do t like it even with very little wind it is loud and moves almost constAnt as well reflective 3 ways to deter birds from your garden.
