Great for everything from espresso to French press and everything in between.I haven’t had to disassemble yet, but it seems easy enough from what I’ve seen. Note that your true zero and what shows zero on the external adjustment might be different (my true zero is -2, so if I set my grind to 60 it’s really at 58).This grinder makes it easy to dial in your beans, and has excellent burr geometry and build quality. Only downside is they were forced to change their handle to the straight version, but not a big deal.You cannot find another grinder of this quality at this price range. This beats out the Timemores in this price and other competitors. I use it with a Breville Bambino Plus and typically make one latte each morning.After using it every day for 2 months now, I can honestly say it is a pleasure to use and I don't regret not having an electric grinder. I have also never felt the need to use a drill to power this even though it is possible.Pros:-Build quality is great. A pleasure to work with.-Handle design is great. Originally I wondered if I would miss a curved handle but the simple wooden ball feels and looks great.-Grinds beautifully. Made a huge difference using this vs my old blade grinder. After using this vs my old blade grinder, the coffee coming out of my Breville Bambino rivals the best I've had from any cafe. And latte art works so much better now with coffee made with this grinder.-Quiet. Doesn't bother anyone or wake anyone up like an electric grinder. All you hear is the pleasant, precise, quiet sound of the burs grinding slowly against the coffee. Only gets easier with time as you get more practice. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent value for the money for espresso and beyond *by on Reviewed in the United States November 12, 2025* As a fledgling coffee enthusiast I'm very impressed. Every espresso beginner should start here before considering any electric grinders. For pour-over and moka fans this grinder is just fantastic.My setup is a Breville Bambino and Turin DF64, and previously a Breville Smart Grinder Pro and DF54. Hario V60 for pour over, and occasionally I use a moka pot and french press. I bought the Kingrinder as a travel grinder, intending to use it for pour over, but it exceeded my expectations substantially.The K6 is solid metal, and weighty: 620g. It has a 30g dose capacity with medium-dark beans, which is plenty. I found it quite intuitive to use; the grind setting adjusts in 60 clicks per revolution. For coarse grinds the collar must be turned several complete revolutions. Easy enough, just tighten the collar until the burrs touch to find true zero (about -5 clicks on mine), then espresso is around 30 clicks, moka 60, pour over around 90, french press around 130. The indicator showing how many full revolutions have been completed works fine, just look carefully. The external grind adjustment collar is very convenient, and I wouldn't want to switch to an internal system as I regularly switch between brew methods daily.The catch cup screws securely to the body of the grinder. Note that the grinder arrives set up for power drill use, for hand grinding you should remove the black o-ring from around the lid, and secure the lid to the handle with the small white o-ring, otherwise the grinder lid is easy to lose. This makes sense for shipping, but it's a little odd to get a hand grinder that's set up for power drill use.Grinding is straightforward. For pour over or coarser, grinding is physically easy. Once you dial down to espresso it requires some effort, though with darker roasts I find it more than tolerable. For medium roast beans it's quite challenging - my guess is my wife will not find espresso physically feasible. I can grind a 17g dark roast espresso dose in about 35 seconds; lighter roasts take about 45s. Pour over grinds are faster. This is negligibly slower than a Breville SGP or Turin DF54. The K6 (and all hand grinders, I imagine) offer two significant advantages over electric grinders: dose control and retention. You get precisely as much coffee out as you put in, none gets stuck inside the grinder. So if you weigh and grind 17g of beans, you will get 17g of grinds. If you change the grind setting between doses, you won't get a mix of two different grinds, throwing off your brew.I am absolutely blown away by the espresso quality. Doing a head to head comparison to my DF64 (a well regarded espresso grinder) I might actually prefer the K6. Dialing in seems to be a bit easier on the K6, I suspect the conical burrs are more forgiving. I can taste the difference in burr profile, particularly with lighter roasts. The K6's conical burrs provide a very approachable espresso; the DF64 brings out stronger notes (like tangy, floral, citrus flavors), the K6 is more rounded, mellow, and balanced. To be fair, these are very small differences. Note that the click size of the K6 is adequate for espresso, but not outstanding. With my bambino dosing 17g, 30 clicks pulled a 34g shot, 31 clicks a 40g shot, and 35 a 50g shot. So one click is a substantial difference, and like many cheaper electric espresso grinders, you might have to adjust the dose size to really fine-tune your espresso.After just a few days with the K6 I feel like a good hand grinder should be where all new espresso enthusiasts start. It's a fantastic tool to learn how to make good espresso. Entry level electric espresso grinders are a mess - you get inconsistent dosing and retention making grind adjustments an exercise in frustration. With the K6 you get zero retention and thus perfect grind adjustment. Limitations:With a maximum dose of 30g you have to grind twice for a large french press. Brewing a dozen cups of coffee for a large family would be inefficient.The true zero is about 5 clicks past nominal zero, and there's no way to calibrate it. However, that's largely irrelevant except in comparing to other peoples' grind settings.The physical effort required to grind medium roast espresso is the biggest limitation. Dark roasts are more than tolerable, and for moka pot or pour over use it's a non-issue. Obviously it's a bit slower than a fast electric grinder. The K6 takes 35s per dose, my DF64 15s. However, other electric grinders like the DF54 or SGP take roughly 30s as well. I enjoy using this grinder and regularly grab it over my DF64 for espresso.Grind quality is excellent, but if you want flat burrs, this isn't going to provide those. Grind adjustment is very good to handle all brewing methods, but the granularity of the adjustment is only adequate for espresso - this is not a dedicated espresso grinder.A new complaints that are not really fair given the price. The threaded, screw-on catch cup can be annoying to remove and replace. Sometimes some coffee gets in the threads and jams. I suspect more expensive designs with magnetic catch cups would be more pleasant, but I'm certain that would be reflected in the price. There's no packaging for this grinder. The manual is a QR code that directs you to Kingrinder's website.
