I plan to re-adopt a low carb lifestyle because I’m very high risk to develop diabetes, and right now have gestational diabetes. Diabetes runs in my family, and I want to avoid it if possible.Before I proceed with my review, I want to say that I am by no means a picky eater. I love most veggies, fruits, and meats, even eat plain Greek yogurt every morning, and have tried various low-carb products that others might not find good, but I do and will eat.As for the bars: I have now tried the almond and strawberry flavors, and so far I can’t say I would buy these again. While the flavor is good at the beginning, it’s the weird bitterness in the middle and the aftertaste that really gets me. To me, they taste like moist, chewy, sunflower seed-flavored bars with hints of almond or strawberry. I’m guessing it’s the sunflower lecithin that does this? Not sure, but I do not find these appetizing at all, and was honestly not looking forward to trying another flavor after the first one. I also don’t understand all the 5 star reviews here, and feel incredibly misled because I bought these based off the reviews. I hope whoever tries these next at least sees this review and will weigh whether to buy these because they’re not cheap. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really not trying to hate and I love the concept of these bars and the ingredients really are legit. AND to be fair I will try these again after I have my baby next week and see if my taste changes, at which point, if it’s better, I will change my review. I bought the Variety Pack, and glad I did. The Cocoa bar was excellent -- good mouth feel, tasty and satisfying. The almond bar was equally delicious. The strawberry flavor surprised me. It was the last bar I tried as Cocoa and Almond are favorite flavors of mine, but the strawberry really had great flavor. I will reorder the variety pack again, as all of them are great tasting, satisfying bars.
