From what I remember there is a tiny red or green light next to the plug in area then when it is fully charged the light goes out. Mine charged rather quickly. When you take it off of the charger and you turn the light on the highest setting it should be very bright, not dim at all. That way you would know that it is properly charged. **Q: How long does the battery last at the lowest setting before you have to recharge it?** A: My wife only uses it on high setting when she's coloring, but it lasts for about 8 hours on high ! She usually charges it after her 3rd or 4th time using it when she colors !! **Q: How tall is the lifht? Good price. It's a nice size, but would not be suitable for use as a book light because it's a bit too large for most books. The clamp is rather big. It's better suited for clipping on to a desk edge or headboard or table edge. It also balances (with a little adjustment to the neck) well on top of a desk or nightstand, etc. I like clipping it to my lapdesk. Very convenient. Three lighting options let you choose your brightness level. It's a white light--not amber. It works wirelessly, and it was charged when it arrived. We used it right away without having to charge it. You can use it while it's charging. It does take a while to charge and it comes with the cord but not the plug. FYI. But it's standard sized so you probably already have the plug from something else. The instructions say it gets hot and to watch out. I bought it for a minor and that worried me. But it does not get hot, so maybe they are being extra careful. I've bought other booklights/clip-on lamps before. This product in white is my favorite. Well constructed. Smooth finish. Easy touch on/off. Great lighting and flexibility. You can arrange the neck however you want--in a loop, backwards, facing up or down, etc. Lightweight. Carry it from room to room. I've even used mine as a flashlight at times because you can set it on any level surface. I bought it for $12 when it was a Lightning Deal. It is really very bright on the highest setting. I use this with my bed tray table that I draw on. It lasts a decent amount of time. About 6-8 hours on the highest setting before it starts dimming. The touch controls are a little frustrating at times because any light touch will activate it. My only other two complaints is that when you have it plugged in, the light is brighter than when you use it cordless and also I wish it came in black so it would match my desk. I recently ordered a different rechargeable light in black that was twice the price of this and the brightest setting on that light was equivalent to the first setting on this light. I’ve returned it and I’m continuing to use this one. Will see how long it last but it serves me for a year or more I'd say this was money well spent.The only think I would improve is the control. It has single touch capabilities. It goes off -> dim -> bright -> brightest -> off.Would be better if a long press would turn it off without having to cycle to the brighter settings.
