This is not a thin mesh at all, and is kind of like a rubber webbing, which provides amazing shade, but still lets you see the sky. The manufacturer's warranty is 10 years, and I can surely see it lasting much longer than that.Installation: The instructions provided are useless, but there are a lot of youtube videos explaining the installation. The windshield bungee installation was not the easiest, so I just ended up dropping the windshield, which was a first for me. Dropping the windshield was simply removing 4 bolts with the Jeep Toolkit. It was much more easy than playing a guessing game with the small plastic tool they provided. All the other straps were pretty self explanatory, Long ones for the back, medium ones for the corner, and short ones for the side. The freedom panels fit perfectly on top of the shade as pictured.*I have to give a big thumbs up to Alien 4x4 for their alien marketing. It truly drew my attention to the brand, and made me look forward to the extra goodies that came along with the product. I loved the presentation in the box with the green confetti, However, the one thing I was looking forward to the most was not in the box. I spent 10 minutes looking everywhere for the small little green alien, thinking that it was hidden, but It was nowhere to be found. I know this is probably ridiculous, but I was, and still am disappointed at not receiving the small alien. I know this is a lot to ask for, but If they could send it over, this company will definitely have the best customer service on Amazon.Summary: Despite not receiving the small alien, the product itself is great, and if you're debating whether to get this brand or another, this is definitely the brand to go with. It installs very easy. I did not struggle in any way to get the bungees secured.Speaking of bungees, those are my only complaint. I hate they are visible. Idk why, they just look plain ugly to me.The shade really does a great job of keeping me cool with the panels off . It prevents me from baking at red lights or when in stop/go traffic .
