They are more for accessing a table by lifting the top to retrieve something quickly. **Q: What kind of gas strut would work with these 170 Degree Hinges?** A: I don't know. I purchased the hinges, so could add them to a roof scuttle with pneumatic assist, but have not had time to work on the project. **Q: What gas strut works with these?** A: Gas struts aren't required, these are spring loaded. **Q: would these work for a face frame cabinet door?** A: Not sure what you mean by "face frame", but my door sits outside the cabinet frame. These hinges are screwed in the inside of the cabinet and then on the back of the door. I had to put a filler on the inside side of the cabinet since the cabinet face had a lip on it. Both sides of this hinge are flush mounts so you don't have to drill an inset hole in the back of the door or the side of the cabinet. My door is only about 1/4 inch bigger than the opening on all sides. Because these hinges are stout... the door is harder to open than the other cabinet doors. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Heavy duty hinges *by D***Y on March 28, 2024* I'm using 4 per door and it is very sturdy. My door is a 8 foot, 1/2 piece of plywood with wood slats on top so it adds a but of weight. It doesn't sag or give any binding problems. Very smooth operation and easy to install. I will definitely buy more for my next project in the future. A+product ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Great hinge! Just what I was looking for *by R***E on February 1, 2019* This was the hinge I was looking for! It opens the door away from the opening and more than up to 170-degrees. You can reduce the opening degree by a screw in the center which came in handy after installation so it doesn't hit the wall. I used it on a furnace door which is an old style inset door (see photos). The hinge is forgiving as it worked on my first try using my own measurements, everything lined up and the door pulled closed nicely. The included screws are not that great.
