The part that connects to the watch has a plastic lip on them to hook onto the garmin watch. You could connect the band to the watch, and it would stay on, for you to screw them in. Those lips are made too long to fit on the watch. Its my own fault for not checking this part first because it looks identical to the garmin band. I had already cut the length of the watch to fit my son's wrist, then tried to install it but it wouldnt install.
